Season: Spring

Location: Nazuna's University

<Some hours later>

Tomoya: I was wondering for a moment there how it'd all pan out, but I'm glad things worked out somehow.

Hajime: Uu. I thought they'd get yelled at, so I was really worried.

Nazuna: I only heard from the club head afterward, but apparently their advisor was also worried about the decrease in the number of new students joining.

However, he ended up holding back from leading the way to recruit new students. That was because as is, choir is inseparable from religion.

In order to avoid new students being too wary, it looks like he decided to respect the students' wishes about club recruitment.

Tomoya: So he wasn't able to act assertively.

Nazuna: Well, but that doesn't mean the professor didn't do anything.

Since the number of new students was decreasing, it looks like he was in contact with multiple places regarding participation in events outside of school.

I guess he was trying to make the choir's existence more known by participating in things at various locations. Activities outside of school are also an accomplishment, after all.

Hajime: If he's willing to go that far, though, I also think it'd be good for him to show up to the club activities.

Tomoya: When I asked the choir members, I heard that their advisor only shows up to their activities about two times a month.

If they'd talked with each other more, something like this might not have happened.

Nazuna: Hm~m. Well, to begin with, the relationship between the choir members and their advisor was pretty lacking, right~?

Mitsuru: But when we were talkin' to him he was being a pretty reasonable mister.

Nazuna: You're right. It's hard to bring yourself to say what you want to sometimes, but if you diligently discuss it together, they may understand.

But, you know, it's preeetty hard to say that first word and get it started......

Mitsuru: But today Nii~chan was suuuper cool!

When I saw you facin' off with the prof, I got all fired up!

...... Maybe that's what our rock's all about!

Hajime: Yeah! Nii~chan's always reliable, but today he was cooler than usual ♪

Nazuna: ...... No. I'm not cool at all.

Mitsuru: ......? What's wrong, Nii~chan?

Nazuna: Actually, I also have something I've been hiding from you guys.

For this whole thing, I told you we should try a rock Ra*bits because I wanted to help out a friend in the choir, right?

But that's wrong. That's not really the reason...... Or, I think it's more accurate to say that's not the only reason.

I haven't been working so hard on this for someone else's sake. I wanted to try "rock Ra*bits" for none other than myself.

For Parallel World, we had multiple units do their performances as a version of "Ra*bits", you know?

We were able to see versions of Ra*bits that weren't "cute". There were quite a few people who thought those versions were favorable.

That situation was bothering me a little. Those other units each have their own personality, and they put on amazing performances.

So it's not really strange at all that they were popular. ...... But I couldn't pin down why it was still popular even with our appearance.

That's probably because when I think of "Ra*bits", I think of us as the "cutest" unit.

So the reason I wanted to try a rock Ra*bits was because I didn't want to just let that puzzled feeling go.

I didn't want to leave it not knowing why. There're people that enjoy a "Ra*bits" outside of our cute one. There's definitely a demand there.

So I wanted to understand the appeal that those people feel.

And then I heard about the choir's situation from my friend......

Tomoya: And you thought you'd try out a rock version of Ra*bits then.

Nazuna: Yeah. But I couldn't bring myself to tell you right away, because I thought if I was careless, it'd be seen as me making light of our unit's direction.

In the worst case scenario, Ra*bits as a group would be changed because of me.

So I'm sorry for making you all go along with my self-indulgence. You're all such good kids and I took advantage of that.

Mitsuru: What the he~ck. You shouldn't worry about stuff like that!

Nazuna: "You shouldn't worry"...... This is an important topic, you know?

Tomoya: You're a serious overthinker, Nii~chan.

I said it before, but during Parallel World, it seemed like our "cuteness" might be taken away, so we fought back in our own way.

Rejecting all other possibilities, our "cuteness" was our weapon of choice.

Mitsuru: But that doesn't mean we can't do anything but be cute!

Hajime: Right. The "cute" us, the "cool" us, it's a~ll still Ra*bits.

Mitsuru: I love Nii~chan! But I like the recent Nii~chan even more!

Ya dashed off to places with tons of enthusiasm, and you relied on us too! That made me suuuper happy!

We're just as much Ra*bits as we are precious friends, so don't hold back!

Nazuna: Hold back......

(No, it might be just like Mitsuru-chin said.)

(Ra*bits isn't a unit I lead anymore. Even though I thought I had to support Mitsuru-chin and the others...)

(It's not just about thinking together and supporting each other. Just like I wanted to hear everyone's thoughts, I should also put my own thoughts into words.)

Mitsuru: So I want ya to talk to us more and more! Things Nii~chan wants to do, or try! Talk to us lots!

Tomoya: It's okay to do that, you know? That kind of thing isn't something that'll change Ra*bits.

Hajime: If we end up going toward something that's "not like us", then we'll just talk about it together.

Nazuna: ...... Even though I was the one that wanted us to become a unit where we could say what we wanted the most, huh.

You guys are right. Supporting each other and walking together is what we as Ra*bits are all about.

Mitsuru: Yup! We'll make our own way!

'Cause if we keep dashing like this, we'll become the best Ra*bits in the whole wide world!

Nazuna: ...... Thanks, everyone.

Notes:
  • as always, my japanese is not native-level and thus is prone to error! please understand that this is a fan translation unaffiliated with happy elements.
  • mitsuru calls the professor "ojisan", which translates more to "mister", or, more disrespectfully, "old man". he doesn't mean it in a disrespectful way, it just has the connotation of the person in question being older. i chose "mister" because it fit the situation and characters most.
  • nazuna's "even though i was the one that wanted us to become a unit where we could say what we wanted the most, huh" is just his way of saying "i was the one that wanted this, yet you guys ended up embodying it more than me". it's a very sweet line!
